Job summary

YMCA of the Inland Northwest is seeking a Lead Lifeguard - North for the Spokane, WA area. This part-time role supports day-to-day aquatics operations, ensures safety, and promotes a positive experience for staff and members.

The Lead Lifeguard leads staff, monitors water quality, coordinates breaks, and assists the Aquatics Director. Requires lifeguard certifications, 6 months aquatic experience, and strong MS Office skills.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current ARC Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, Administering Emergency Oxygen certifications; YMCA trainings required on hire.
• Six months of related aquatic programming experience.
• Experience delivering quality customer service to members.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Monitor lifeguard and swim staff; coach behavior and skill applications to motivate.
• Supervise lifeguard staff during emergencies and debrief with staff.
• Patrol natatorium and engage with members throughout shift.
• Coordinate staff breaks to ensure engagement and compliance.
• Report water quality, sanitation, and maintenance needs to supervisors.
• Assist with staff meetings and inservice training.
• Assist Aquatics Director with department needs.
• Ensure daily tasks are completed and members are engaged.
