Job summary

YMCA of the Inland Northwest in Sandpoint, ID is seeking a part-time Water Exercise Instructor to lead dynamic pool classes and foster member engagement. The role supports Y mission by promoting healthy living and youth development through energetic workouts and relationship building with participants.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in aquatic programming, college coursework or equivalent, and current CPR/AED, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens certifications.

Qualifications

• Two years of college or equivalent preferred.
• May be substituted with at least two years of related work experience.
• Six months or two seasons of related experience in related aquatic programming.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Current certifications in CPR/AED, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens/Preventing Disease Transmission.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach engaging exercise routines for water classes.
• Evaluate participants and adapt movements to abilities.
• Instruct proper breathing, hydration, and rest.
• Explain and enforce safety rules in the aquatic area.
• Maintain equipment inventory and manage supplies.
• Know and follow emergency procedures per YMCA policies.
• Build relationships with participants and adapt routines to needs.
