Job summary

YMCA of the Inland Northwest is seeking a part-time Water Exercise Instructor for the Litehouse/Sandpoint branch in Sandpoint, ID. The role involves leading engaging pool workouts, ensuring safety, and supporting member retention by building positive relationships with participants.

The position requires CPR/AED, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens certification, with two years of college preferred or equivalent experience in aquatic programming.

Qualifications

• Two years of college or equivalent preferred.
• May be substituted with at least two years of related work experience.
• Six months or two seasons of related experience in related aquatic programming.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Current certifications in CPR/AED, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens/Preventing Disease Transmission.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach engaging exercise routines, choose appropriate music, and vary movements to keep classes fun.
• Evaluate participants and offer modifications to accommodate needs.
• Teach proper breathing, hydration, and rest during workouts.
• Explain and enforce safety rules for the pool and equipment.
• Maintain equipment inventory and manage supplies as needed.
• Follow emergency procedures and respond to incidents per YMCA policies.
• Instruct participants and adapt routines to individual wants or needs.

Education
