Job summary

Workstream is seeking a part-time Aquatics Coordinator for the North River Y to support the Aquatics Director in overseeing lifeguarding, swim lessons, pool maintenance and programming. The role includes building member relationships and ensuring safety.

Candidates should be available afternoons and evenings, Tuesday–Saturday or Wednesday–Sunday, with opportunities to pursue higher certifications (Lifeguard Instructor, Swim Instructor, etc.).

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must have or obtain Lifeguard Instructor certification and Swim Instructor certification within 6 months.
• Must be certified in CPR, AED, Oxygen, first aid, and lifeguard.
• Pool operator certification preferred; ability to obtain upon hire.
• Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to lift, stoop, bend, and perform physical activities required by the job.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing member-focused aquatics programs.
• Coordinate/supervise facility rentals.
• Coordinate swim lesson scheduling (group, private, adaptive).
• Conduct swim lessons as assigned.
• Conduct pool maintenance as assigned.
• Provide additional support and oversight to aquatics team when the Aquatics Director is not available.
• Lifeguard regularly and sub as needed.
• Build authentic relationships with members and help them connect with each other.
• Enforce water safety rules, perform rescues, and provide first aid as needed.
• Assist scheduling lifeguard training and certifications.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
• Work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
• Demonstrate leadership and pursue higher level certifications as guided.
• Other duties as assigned by the aquatics director.
