Job summary

YMCA of South Hampton Roads seeks an Aquatics Coordinator to supervise pool operations, train staff, and deliver lifeguard and swim instruction. You will engage with members, enforce safety policies, and respond to emergencies with trained leadership and clear communication.

Qualifications

• Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid up to date.
• Current YMCA Lifeguarding or Red Cross Lifeguarding (instructor preferred).
• Current YMCA Swim Instructor or Red Cross Water Safety Instructor.
• Ability to maintain certifications and readiness.
• One+ years lifeguard/swim instructor supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise pool deck, entrances, and high-risk areas.
• Assist in training and scheduling personnel.
• Follow emergency procedures and complete related reports.
• Maintain positive relationships with members and staff.
• Respond to member questions and assist as needed.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Monitor daily pool operations for health and safety.
• Conduct lifeguarding and swim instruction.
• Lead and support staff as assigned.
