Job summary

The Virginia Recreation and Park Society is seeking an Aquatics Coordinator to supervise all aquatic operations, lead staff, and deliver high-quality programs while prioritizing pool safety and customer service. Responsibilities include lifeguard scheduling, lesson oversight, training, and cross-department collaboration to ensure a welcoming aquatic experience for members and guests.

Ideal candidates will have at least two years in an aquatics setting and relevant Red Cross certifications; CPR

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience working in an aquatics facility.
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
• Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification preferred.
• Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certification preferred.
• Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support all aquatic staff.
• Oversee swimming lesson programs for preschool, group, and private sessions.
• Assist with outdoor aquatics facility supervision during summer camps.
• Teach group and private swimming lessons as needed.
• Create and manage lifeguard schedules and staff recognition initiatives.
• Coordinate lifeguard certification and recertification courses.
• Plan monthly in-service training and recruit/train aquatic staff.
• Provide excellent internal and external customer service.
