Job summary

The YMCA is seeking a Coordinator to assist with day-to-day operations of the aquatics department, oversee staff, programming, and admin tasks while emphasizing safety.

The role involves scheduling, direct program support as lifeguard/instructor/coach, onboarding, staff coaching, budgeting, communications with members and parents, and equipment maintenance. This is a full-time hourly position with extensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or higher in sports management, recreation management, applied health or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Minimum 3 years as Lifeguard, Swim Instructor, or Swim Team Coach with risk management and programming focus.
• Current nationally recognized Swim Instructor and/or Lifeguard certifications.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of general computer and tablet functions, including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Support the staff scheduling for the aquatics department.
• Provide direct program support as Lifeguard, Swim Instructor, and/or Swim Team Coach.
• Assist onboarding, training, and development of department employees.
• Provide regular feedback, coaching and evaluation to staff.
• Assist with administration and monitoring of department budget.
• Support department communication with members and parents.
• Assist with coordination of parties including bookings, payments and contracts.
• Oversee care and maintenance of equipment and facilities with supervisors.
