Job summary

Helen P. Brown Natatorium in Fort Wayne, IN, seeks a full-time supervisory lifeguard and program instructor to lead staff, teach swimming, water safety, and ensure pool safety rules are followed.

You'll coordinate staff, provide in-service training, supervise lifeguard teams, and implement instruction plans across all levels. Training and certifications are required and supported during probation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with college coursework; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• One year supervisory experience and one year lifeguarding/teaching swim lessons.
• Must possess lifeguard/Water Safety Instructor certifications and be willing to train further within six to eight months.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising facility personnel, assign duties, and conduct staff training.
• Lead and participate in instruction for swimming, water exercise, and safety; supervise and guide students/guests.
• Provide lifeguard services, teach swim lessons, and monitor pool activities for safety and compliance.
• Develop and implement swimming, water safety, and lifeguard training plans; coordinate drills and practices.
• Maintain safety policies, ensure clean and safe facilities, and manage incident reporting.
• Provide ongoing instruction and training for lifeguards; coordinate and follow up on in-services.
