Plan, instruct and supervise swim lessons in accordance with the American Red Cross water safety instructor guidelines as well as the HPB Natatoriums policies and procedures. Provide a safe and productive learning environment through lesson planning. Follow progressive discipline process outlined by FWCS and the Helen P. Brown Natatorium. Recognize and respond effectively to emergencies and/or hazards in and around the pool in accordance the Emergency Action Plan.
Must be a certified Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and have strong leadership, organizational, oral and written communication skills. Possess knowledge of the methods, terminology, principles, practices, procedures, materials and equipment used in assigned field

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to speak and hear. Theemployee is required to have dexterity of hands and fingers. The employee is required tosit and stand for extended periods of time. The employee must perform assigned dutieswhich require bending, kneeling, twisting, and reaching overhead, above shoulders andhorizontally. The employee will be required to push/pull, lift and carry up to 50 pounds on aregular basis. Must be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke and butterfly, tread water continuously for least 2 minutes and dive into the pool from the side.
