Job summary

Fields Auto Group in the Chicago area is seeking an entry-level Automotive Technician to join our service team. You’ll learn from seasoned technicians, work on a range of vehicles, and contribute to keeping our customers on the road.

This position emphasizes growth, hands-on training, and a positive, hard-working attitude. Requirements include a technical school background and a willingness to obtain ASE certification; dealership experience is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

Technical school training is required.
ASE certification encouraged but not required.
Willing to work hard with a positive attitude.
Interest in the automotive industry.
Strong teamwork skills.
Clean and valid driver’s license; drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership procedures.
Assist Service Advisor in test-driving vehicles and using diagnostic tools.
Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, A/C.
Communicate with the Service Advisor about additional needed work and time estimates.
Perform warranty repairs to manufacturer specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership – familiarizing yourself with the service department & procedures
Assist Service Advisor in test-driving vehicles and testing components and systems. You will learn how to use diagnostic tools and special service equipment
Diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, etc.
Communicate directly with the Service Advisor so that customers can be informed if any additional service is needed. Providing an estimate of time needed for additional repairs
Executing repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications
