Job summary

Fields Auto Group in the Chicago area is seeking an entry-level automotive technician. You’ll learn from experienced techs, diagnose and repair vehicles, and gain hands-on experience with modern diagnostics.

The shop offers comprehensive benefits, OEM training, paid time off, and opportunities to advance. A clean driving record and technical schooling are required; dealership experience is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

• Technical schooling required
• Clean & valid driver's license
• Willing to submit to a drug screen & background check

Responsibilities

• Perform work specified on repair orders efficiently and per dealership procedures
• Assist Service Advisor in test-driving vehicles and testing components and systems
• Learn to use diagnostic tools and service equipment
• Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems (engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, A/C)
• Communicate with Service Advisor about additional repairs and time estimates

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership – familiarizing yourself with the service department & procedures
• Assist Service Advisor in test-driving vehicles and testing components and systems. You will learn how to use diagnostic tools and special service equipment
• Diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, etc.
• Communicate directly with the Service Advisor so that customers can be informed if any additional service is needed. Providing an estimate of time needed for additional repairs
• Executing repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications

REQUIREMENTS:

• Dealership experience is a benefit, but not required
• Technical Schooling required
• ASE Certification is encouraged but not required
• Ready to work hard with a positive attitude
• Interested in the automotive industry
• Strong teamwork skills
• Willing to submit to a drug screen & background check
• Must have clean & valid driver's license
