Hitachi Energy Ltd. is seeking an Apprentice Field Service Technician to gain hands-on experience in transformer maintenance, diagnostics, and service work in electrical substations while learning from experienced field professionals.

This role requires travel across the United States and a commitment to safety and quality. Ideal candidates have a technical or mechanical background, with military experience considered an asset.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years in a technical, mechanical or industrial field.
• Military veterans or transitioning service members with electrical/mechanical experience encouraged.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel up to 85% across the US.

Responsibilities

• Learn transformer maintenance, inspection and repair alongside experienced technicians.
• Perform mechanical/technical work in high-voltage substations across the United States.
• Assist with inspections and diagnostic evaluations for preventive maintenance.
• Support transformer servicing using established procedures, tools and best practices.
• Operate vacuum oil processing and oil handling equipment under supervision.
• Analyze technical data and apply findings to resolve equipment issues.
• Document field activities, inspections and maintenance reports using digital tools.
• Collaborate with customers, engineering teams and field personnel for safe service solutions.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, procedures and guidelines.
