AEP Service Corporation seeks an apprentice Service Mechanic A to assist in installation, maintenance, and inspection of overhead transmission and distribution facilities. You will drive line trucks, assist trouble responses, and support construction crews under supervision.

Requirements include high school diploma or GED, valid Class A CDL, and at least one year of distribution electrical power line work or related line experience, or an electrical power line school certificate with internship,

Qualifications

• Education requirements: High School diploma or GED.
• One year distribution electrical power line work experience, OR one year of related line experience defined as: completion of a one year electrical power line school certificate plus a minimum of 16 weeks internship or distribution electrical power line experience, or an Associate degree from an electrical power line school which includes internship or experience.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver License.
• Physical demand level is Heavy.

Responsabilités

• Assist with maintenance and repair of overhead distribution/transmission lines, structures and equipment under safety rules.
• Work on conductors and equipment energized up to 260 volts under general supervision (first six months).
• Work on conductors and equipment energized at up to 600 volts under supervision.
• Operate line switches and sectionalizing devices under supervision as skill improves.
• Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect conductors and fixtures on overhead/underground facilities.
• Load, unload and install poles, towers and structures; build overhead transformer installations.
• Maintain tools, equipment and work area; submit reports as required.
