Job summary

AEP in Woodlawn, VA seeks a Line Mechanic-D to assist in installation, maintenance, and inspection of electrical transmission and distribution facilities, including overhead and underground lines. You will learn to operate line trucks, climb poles, and work with energized equipment under supervision.

Education: high school diploma or GED; no experience required; must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain CDL beginner permit within 60 days.

Qualifications

• Line work experience or line school education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with assembly, installation, and maintenance of overhead and underground lines.
• Operate line trucks and inspect underground and overhead facilities under supervision.
• Progress in operating company equipment after training and safety checks.
• Inspect and maintain tools and equipment; report irregularities.
• Safely perform pole top rescue and bucket truck rescue procedures after training.
