Job summary

SimVentions, Inc is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the NSWCDD Dahlgren on-site team. You will design and execute automated and manual tests, tying them to requirements, and collaborate with developers and government customers to resolve defects.

The role requires a BS in applied math or engineering physics, 1+ years testing, and proficiency in C++ and Linux. Active Secret clearance is required for access to classified information and on-site work five days per week.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional applied math or applied physics experience in engineering projects.
• 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or equivalent education; can be concurrent with math/physics work.
• Familiarity reviewing C++ code.
• Experience using Linux systems.
• Demonstrated ability to find, document, and help resolve complex software issues.
• Experience linking requirements to test cases and managing test artifacts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers.
• Strong teamwork and ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied to requirements.
• Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, system-level).
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and related tools.
• Identify, document, and track software defects; work with developers for rapid resolution.
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback.
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities.
• Interface directly with government customers daily.
• Occasionally present technical testing documentation.
