Job summary

SimVentions is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the NSWCDD Dahlgren, VA team. The role focuses on designing test plans, developing automated/manual tests, and collaborating with government customers to resolve defects. The candidate should have 2+ years in applied math/physics and 1+ year in software testing, with Linux proficiency.

U.S. citizenship and on-site 5-day workweek are required. Security clearance is required for access to classified information.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of applied mathematics or applied physics experience.
  • 1+ years of software/systems testing experience.
  • Familiarity with reviewing C++ code.
  • Experience using Linux systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to find, document, and help resolve complex software issues.
  • Experience linking requirements to test cases and managing test artifacts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers.
  • Strong teamwork and the ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
  • Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied to requirements.
  • Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, and system-level).
  • Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution.
  • Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback.
  • Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities.
  • Interface directly with government customers daily.
  • Occasionally present technical testing documentation.
