Job summary

SimVentions, Inc. is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join our NSWCDD Dahlgren-based team.

This full-time, on-site role involves designing test plans, executing manual and automated testing, and collaborating with government customers to resolve software defects. Applicants must have 2+ years in applied math/physics, 1+ year in software testing, Linux experience, and an active Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional applied math/physics in engineering projects.
• 1+ years of software/systems testing or equivalent education.
• Familiarity reviewing C++ code.
• Experience using Linux systems.
• Ability to link requirements to test cases and artifacts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present to customers.
• Strong teamwork and multitasking with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied to requirements.
• Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, system-level).
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools.
• Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution.
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback.
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities.
• Interface directly with government customers daily.
• Occasionally present technical testing documentation.
