SimVentions seeks an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the NSWCDD SLBM team at NSWC Dahlgren Division in Dahlgren, VA. In a full-time, on-base role, you will design test plans, execute automated and manual testing, and collaborate with developers and government customers to resolve software defects.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in applied math/physics, some coding experience, and 1+ years in software testing, with Linux proficiency, DOORS/Jira familiarity, and strong

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional applied mathematics or applied physics experience
• 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or education; can be concurrent with math/physics work
• Familiarity reviewing C++ code
• Experience using Linux systems
• Ability to document and help resolve software issues
• Experience linking requirements to test cases and managing test artifacts
• Excellent written and verbal communication; capable of presenting to customers
• Strong teamwork and multitasking with limited supervision

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks
• Write detailed test plans, descriptions, and test cases tied to requirements
• Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, system-level)
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools
• Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities
• Interface directly with government customers daily
• Occasionally present technical testing documentation
