Job summary

SimVentions, Inc. is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the NSWC Dahlgren Division SLBM team in Dahlgren, VA. This full-time, on-base role focuses on designing test plans, developing automated test scripts, and collaborating with government customers to resolve defects while aligning with requirements.

You will work in Linux environments, apply DOORS/Jira tooling for traceability, and present results to customers. U.S.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional applied mathematics or applied physics experience in support of engineering projects.
• 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or equivalent education; can be concurrent with applied math or applied physics experience.
• Familiarity reviewing C++ code and experience using Linux systems.
• Demonstrated ability to find, document, and help resolve complex software issues; linking requirements to test cases.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied to requirements.
• Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, and system-level).
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools.
• Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution.
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback.
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities.
• Interface directly with government customers daily; occasionally present technical testing documentation.
