Job summary

SimVentions, Inc. is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the NSWC Dahlgren, VA SLBM team in a full-time, on-base role. You will design and execute automated and manual tests, tie tests to requirements, and work with developers and government customers to resolve defects.

A STEM degree with coding exposure and 1+ years of testing is expected. U.S. citizenship and on-site work five days/week are required, with an ACTIVE Secret Clearance being preferred.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional applied mathematics or applied physics experience in support of engineering projects
  • 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or equivalent education; can be concurrent with applied math or applied physics experience
  • Familiarity reviewing C++ code
  • Experience using Linux systems
  • Demonstrated ability to find, document, and help resolve complex software issues
  • Experience linking requirements to test cases and managing test artifacts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers
  • Strong teamwork and the ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks
  • Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied directly to requirements
  • Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, and system-level)
  • Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools
  • Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate closely with developers for rapid resolution
  • Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback
  • Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and Configuration Control Board (CCB) activities
  • Interface directly and professionally with government customers daily
  • Occasionally present technical testing documentation
