Job summary

SimVentions, Inc in Dahlgren, VA, is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist for a full-time, on-site role supporting NSWCDD. You will design test plans, develop automated test scripts, and collaborate with government customers to resolve defects.

BS in applied math/physics required with 1+ years of software testing. Familiarity with C++, Linux, and DOORS/Jira; strong communication and teamwork are essential. U.S. citizenship and on-site work five days a week are required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional applied math or physics in engineering projects.
• 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or equivalent education.
• Familiarity reviewing C++ code.
• Experience using Linux systems.
• Demonstrated ability to document and resolve complex software issues.
• Experience linking requirements to test cases and artifacts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers.
• Strong teamwork and ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Write detailed test plans, descriptions, and cases tied to requirements.
• Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, system-level).
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools.
• Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution.
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide feedback.
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities.
• Interface with government customers daily.
• Occasionally present technical testing documentation.
