Job summary

SimVentions seeks an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the NSWCDD Dahlgren team on-site in Virginia. You will design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and write test plans tied to requirements, performing both manual and automated testing across levels.

The role requires 2+ years in applied math/physics, 1+ years in software testing, and experience with Linux, C++, DOORS, Jira, and Git.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional applied mathematics or applied physics experience in support of engineering projects.
• 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or equivalent education; can be concurrent with applied math or applied physics experience.
• Familiarity reviewing C++ code; experience with Linux.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied to requirements.
• Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, and system-level).
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools.
• Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution.
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback.
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities.
• Interface directly and professionally with government customers daily.
• Occasionally present technical testing documentation.
