Job summary

SimVentions, Inc. is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist for the NSWCDD Dahlgren team in a full-time, on-site role in Dahlgren, VA. You will design and execute automated and manual tests, align test cases to requirements, and coordinate with developers and government customers to resolve defects.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in applied math/physics and 1+ years in software testing, with C++ review experience and Linux proficiency. U.S.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional applied mathematics or applied physics experience in engineering projects.
• 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or equivalent education; can be concurrent with math/physics work.
• Familiarity reviewing C++ code and using Linux systems.
• Demonstrated ability to document, track, and resolve complex software issues.
• Experience linking requirements to test cases and managing test artifacts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers.
• Strong teamwork and ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
• Write detailed test plans, descriptions, and cases tied to requirements.
• Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, system).
• Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools.
• Identify and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution.
• Review peers’ test documentation and provide feedback.
• Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities.
• Interface directly with government customers daily; occasionally present testing docs.
