Job summary

Anthropic is seeking an Applied AI Research Engineer in San Francisco to discover model capabilities, validate with customers, and enable field teams to sell and deliver innovative AI solutions. You will embed with product teams, run early testing, build demos and evals, and translate field learnings into actionable product insights.

You will join a cross-functional team collaborating with Sales, Product, and Research to shape go-to-market strategies, drive discussions with strategic customers,

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in a technical role with some exposure to customers or end users.
• Deep on technical problems and translating learnings into materials, training, or tools.
• Strong technical aptitude with proficiency in at least one programming language.
• Meaningful experience building with large language models or integrating models into production.
• Experience designing evals, building prototypes, or developing technical enablement for complex products.
• Ability to quickly build domain expertise in new product areas and be a credible technical voice.
• Curiosity about AI capabilities and identifying valuable use cases.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for diverse stakeholders, including exec-level.
• Navigate ambiguity and adapt across domains with simple, understandable solutions.
• Collaborative, service-oriented mindset for go-to-market at Anthropic.
• Passion for safe, beneficial AI and advancing steerable, trustworthy AI.

Responsibilities

• Embed with product teams to develop deep technical expertise on new products and capabilities.
• Own the technical GTM handshake for model/product launches, including early testing and field readiness.
• Build demos, evals, and prototypes showing customer-relevant model capabilities.
• Create enablement materials like playbooks and training with Technical Enablement.
• Engage with strategic customers to solve novel challenges and extract scalable learnings.
• Synthesize insights from customer engagements to inform research and product roadmaps.
• Partner with Sales and Applied AI teams to support high-value accounts.
• Travel occasionally to customer sites for workshops and collaboration.
