Job summary

OpenAI seeks a Manager to build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of Applied AI Engineers serving enterprise customers in the United States. You will be accountable for the technical success of a broad customer portfolio, guiding design, production deployment, and adoption across workflows and business units.

This role requires deep technical depth, people leadership, and the ability to coach engineers through architecture decisions, engage with executives, and partner with Sales,

Qualifications

• Significant experience managing customer-facing technical teams such as Applied AI Engineers, Solutions Architects, Forward Deployed Engineers, Customer Engineers, or Technical Account Managers.
• Experience leading teams delivering complex software, data, ML, or AI systems in enterprise environments.
• Ability to coach engineers through architecture decisions and evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Build and develop a high-performing team of Applied AI Engineers supporting enterprise customers.
• Own the quality and impact of the team's work across solution design, implementation, production readiness, adoption, and expansion.
• Coach the team through architecture decisions, model selection, evaluations, reliability, latency, safety, security, governance, and cost.
• Establish an operating model for prioritizing accounts and engagements based on customer needs and strategic value.
• Serve as a senior technical escalation point during launches, incidents, and complex integrations.
• Collaborate with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Product, Research, Engineering, Security, and Legal to ensure long-term customer success.
