Job summary

Groundswell is seeking a hands-on AI engineer who can take business problems, define requirements, and deliver end-to-end capabilities, including discovery, design, build, validation, and operation. You will lead architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and balance accuracy with cost and latency while advancing client engagements.

The role requires deep experience with large language models, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, and structured extraction, plus strong programming

Qualifications

• 4+ years building and shipping production software.
• 1+ year building apps integrating LLMs (prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, structured extraction, tool use, agent patterns).
• Ability to own a capability end to end from ambiguous requirement to production.
• Experience evaluating AI system quality with metrics and evidence-based deployment decisions.
• Strong programming in Python/TypeScript/SQL across full stack, not just AI layer.

Responsibilities

• Lead requirements conversations with business and technical stakeholders, covering workflows, decisions, and success criteria.
• Define technical approach and select AI patterns (extraction, classification, summarization, retrieval, or agentic workflow).
• Recommend simpler non-AI solutions when appropriate and identify impact.
• Define measurable success criteria before building (accuracy targets, human review thresholds, acceptance conditions).
• Build complete capability end to end (prompts, retrieval design, tool definitions, API integration, data handling, error states, UI).
• Build evaluation sets from real data and iterate based on results.
• Make architecture decisions considering quality, cost, latency, security, and authorization constraints.
• Operationalize capabilities with governance, logging, and drift monitoring; provide client-ready documentation.
