Job summary

Groundswell is seeking an AI-enabled software engineer to own capabilities end to end—from discovery to production. You will lead requirements conversations, design the technical approach, and ensure measurable success criteria are met.

This hands-on role spans client delivery, internal product work, and rapid proofs of concept, with a focus on responsible AI and practical solutions. You will mentor other engineers, stay current on models and tooling, and collaborate with executives and end

Qualifications

• 4+ years building and shipping production software.
• At least 1 year of hands-on experience building apps with LLMs (prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, structured extraction, tool use, agent patterns).
• Ability to own a capability end to end from ambiguous requirement to production.

Responsibilities

• Lead requirements conversations with business and technical stakeholders, covering workflow, decisions, success criteria, and unraised constraints.
• Define technical approach and defend it; select AI pattern appropriate to the problem.
• Recommend against AI when simpler solutions fit; consider rules, processes, and interfaces.
• Define measurable success criteria and acceptance conditions before building.
• Build complete capability (prompts, retrieval, tools, API integration, data handling, error states, UI).
• Build evaluation sets and iterate based on results.
• Make architecture decisions considering quality, cost, latency, security, and authorization.
• Operationalize capabilities in client environment with governance and monitoring.
• Help clients understand possibilities and shape next phases with proofs of concept.
• Mentor engineers new to AI via code reviews and guidance.
