Job summary

Groundswell is seeking an experienced AI-enabled software engineer to turn business problems into end-to-end capabilities. You will own discovery, design, build, validation, and operations for AI-driven solutions in client environments.

You will lead conversations with stakeholders, choose the right AI pattern, and balance accuracy, cost, and latency while mentoring others and keeping current on AI tooling.

Qualifications

• 4+ years building and shipping production software.
• 1 year hands-on experience integrating large language models (LLMs).
• Own a capability end-to-end from ambiguous requirement to production.
• Experience evaluating AI system quality with metrics and test sets.
• Strong programming ability in Python, TypeScript, or SQL across full app stack.
• Lead requirements conversations with non-technical stakeholders.
• Explain tradeoffs between accuracy, cost, latency and complexity.

Responsibilities

• Lead requirements conversations with business and technical stakeholders.
• Define technical approach and defend AI patterns (extraction, classification, summarization, retrieval, or agentic workflows).
• Recommend simpler non-AI solutions when appropriate; influence design decisions.
• Define measurable success criteria before building (accuracy targets, thresholds).
• Build complete capability: prompts, retrieval design, APIs, data handling, UI.
