Job summary

Rebar is building the AI operating system for commercial HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing from its Flatiron district office in New York. This backend role sits on the AI/ML team working with in-house models and frontier VLMs to shape how segmentation outputs become interactive canvas elements the user can edit and bill against.

You will translate model outputs into user-facing features, own data contracts across services, and maintain accuracy-UX tradeoffs while collaborating with product

Qualifications

• 6+ years of industry software engineering experience.
• Shipped computer vision or ML output into a product surface that users interact with daily.
• Comfortable in Python and TypeScript.
• Experience designing and versioning data contracts between services on live customer data.

Responsibilities

• Design the perception → product data contract.
• Ship AI geometry into the canvas.
• Own the accuracy and UX tradeoff honestly.
• Close the correction loop.
• Be the translation layer between our AI/ML team and the product engineers.
