Job summary

Rebar in New York City is seeking a Software Engineer focused on our product. You will own the engineering behind key product expansion, set a rising quality bar, and shape the architecture of the application our customers live in daily.

You’ll be a full‑stack engineer with a frontend tilt; you’ll ship end-to-end features, profile performance, and work with React, TypeScript, Python, and PostgreSQL on AWS/GCP. Expect scale challenges on dense construction drawings and real-time collaboration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production web applications in a large codebase.
• Deep React and TypeScript with an understanding of rendering.
• Real browser performance work including profiling and memory usage.
• Owned complex client-side state in production.
• Solid backend fundamentals: APIs and relational data models; migrations.
• End-to-end ownership including production incidents.

Responsibilities

• Own runtime quality of the product.
• Improve interaction latency, rendering performance, memory, and correctness on real projects.
• Own the hard client-side architecture.
• Own the canvas editor, the collaboration layer, and the state tying them together.
• Help set engineering standards and raise quality.
• Raise the review and testing bar with end-to-end coverage.
• Ship features end to end across editor, API, and database; design data models and endpoints.
