Job summary

TUTCO Farnam Custom Products is seeking a customer-focused Application Engineer to serve as the technical and commercial liaison between customers and TUTCO Farnam Custom Products, helping OEMs and industrial customers identify, design, and implement custom electric heating and control panel solutions.

Join us in delivering integrated thermal solutions and drive revenue growth through consultative selling and project management.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
3+ years of engineering, applications engineering, product engineering, or technical sales experience.
Strong understanding of heat transfer principles, thermodynamics, industrial electrical systems, controls and automation concepts.
Experience reading engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CAD software.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to travel periodically to customer sites and industry events.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain relationships with OEMs and end users.
Identify new business opportunities and expand existing customer accounts.
Generate and manage a sales pipeline to achieve revenue and profitability objectives.
Conduct customer visits, presentations, and application reviews.
Prepare quotations and negotiate commercial terms within company guidelines.
Partner with customers to understand thermal process, heating, airflow, controls, and performance requirements.
Evaluate customer specifications, operating conditions, and application constraints.
Provide technical guidance and recommendations on heater selection, system integration, and control strategies.
Support sales teams through customer meetings, presentations, product demonstrations, and technical discussions.
Collaborate with engineering teams on product development and custom designs.
Coordinate customer projects from quotation through production and delivery.
Serve as the primary point of contact for technical and commercial communications.
Monitor project milestones, schedules, and customer expectations.
Ensure smooth transition of projects from sales to manufacturing and customer support.
Perform application calculations: heat transfer, airflow/pressure drop, temperature rise, electrical loading.
Ensure compliance with customer specifications and applicable industry standards.
Assist with development of technical literature, application guides, and training materials.
