Job summary

Aflac Columbus, part of the Digital Services division, seeks an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to drive reliability across critical services. You will partner with software architects, lead major incidents, and implement long-term solutions while balancing security and business priorities.

The role emphasizes data-driven improvements, robust failover strategies, and collaboration with product/engineering teams to embed SRE practices within the Software Development Lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in CS/IS/Business or related field.
• 4+ years of technical application support experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with software architects to integrate reliability engineering into the development process.
• Lead resolution of complex and high-impact incidents.
• Perform deep-dive investigations into systemic issues and develop long-term solutions.
• Optimize failover and redundancy strategies to minimize downtime.
• Develop SLAs, SLOs, and SLIs for critical services and ensure they are met.
• Develop frameworks and tools to reduce manual intervention in operations.
• Mentor junior ASEs and guide best practices.
• Lead technical discussions and contribute to decision-making processes.
• Work with development teams to embed reliability practices in the SDLC.
• Collaborate with product management to align reliability with business goals.
• Coordinate with security teams to maintain security during improvements.
