Job summary

Universal Orlando is seeking an Application Engineer to implement and maintain in-house and vendor software across all Park locations in Orlando, FL. You will install, implement, troubleshoot, and provide day-to-day support for applications, while configuring system administration and software environments.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science or related field and 3+ years IT experience, with Galaxy-POS experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of IT/work experience, preferably in IT support roles.
  • Experience with Point-of-Sale systems, GALAXY-POS preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day application support for software systems at Park locations, including after hours and on-call.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze logs, determine root cause, and coordinate with technical teams and vendors.
  • Build and maintain software system configurations and document changes.
  • Attend meetings with business partners and vendors to communicate deployments and troubleshoot issues.
  • Design, run and monitor tests for new and existing applications to identify errors and improvements.
  • Create and maintain documentation; provide knowledge transfer for junior team members.
  • Participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities and follow policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Application Engineer role is to implement and maintain in-house and vendor provided software applications across all Parks. This includes installation, implementation, and troubleshooting, while providing day to day support to existing software applications. The Application Engineer will setup and maintain system administration and configure software systems.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide day-to-day application support on software systems at all Park Technology locations. This includes after hours, weekends, and on-call support.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze logs, replicate errors, determine root cause, and communicate findings. Liaise with other technical teams to assist in resolving problems with software products and/or configuration of hardware components.
  • Build and maintain software system configuration of supported applications while adhering to defined standards.
  • Attend meetings with business partners and vendors to communicate strategies, deployments, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Design, run and monitor test cases on new and existing applications for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement and general debugging.
  • Create and maintain application documentation for all software applications including evolving processes. Provide knowledge transfer and onboarding for Associate level members of the team.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
  • 3+ years of work experience in IT, preferred in IT Support roles.
  • Point-of-Sale systems experience, GALAXY-POS preferred.
  • Experience working both independently and, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment;
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products.
  • Ability to troubleshoot system interfaces and integrations and analyze data extracts.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional peers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with business and IT technical teams.
  • Ability to write and understand technical documentation.

  • Highly self-motivated and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong time management skills to effectively contribute to multiple projects in a timely manner.
  • Proven track record meeting targets, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
    Ability to handle sensitive/confidential matters professionally.
  • The job is based in Orlando, Florida and requires 24x7 support, either on-call and/or on-site. Regular on-call rotation duty is expected.
  • Willingness to travel and/or work weekends with short notice.
