Job summary

Western & Southern Financial Group is looking for a Manager, Application Development to lead the Agency Product Development team. You will oversee the entire product lifecycle from inception to deployment and refinement, ensuring reliable, scalable software systems and leading initiatives to automate and improve processes.

The role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and excellent communication to champion value delivery and foster growth for the team and business partners.

What You’ll Do: A Day in the Life of a Manager Application Development

As the Manager, Application Development, you will lead our Western & Southern Agency Product Development team. You will engage in and improve the whole product project lifecycle — from inception, through deployment, operation, and refinement. You will support services through activities such as system design consulting, integrating software and frameworks, capacity planning, and implementation reviews. You will maintain stability by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health. You will scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity. You will strive to utilize technical skills to maintain optimal system efficiency, productivity, and reliability.

Responsibilities include the leadership and management of all new product introductions for our Western & Southern Agency and the IFS Life distribution channels. You will need to be a strong leader and communicator in championing the delivery of value at the appropriate velocity. You will be responsible for creating a culture that provides timely performance feedback, mentorship needed to learn and grow team members, collaboration, partnership with business owners, and highly responsive/effective team. You will lead practices to eliminate work through automation, proactive identification of impacting issues, including iterative improvement to both quality and stability as a part of the daily work. As the manager, you must be comfortable with retrospective learning along with being a champion of change as needed.
