Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking an Application Delivery Technical Lead to provide technical guidance, design and deliver complex software solutions across enterprise systems. You will mentor developers, review architectures, and ensure alignment with IT standards while actively delivering code.

The role emphasizes leadership, strong collaboration with architects and business users, and hands-on contribution to design and implementation within a fast-paced transport technology landscape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 5 years of experience in software development.
• 3 years of experience in database technologies.
• 5 years of experience on projects involving SDLC.
• 3 years of experience in systems analysis and high level design.
• Experience with RPG, Java, SQL, Angular and APIs design/implementation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and problem‑solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultation on business requirements and functional specifications for complex software solutions.
• Review development or modification of enterprise software systems.
• Balance design/mentorship with hands-on code delivery (roughly 50/50).
• Develop and validate complex software designs ensuring alignment with architecture standards.
• Guide implementation and maintenance of software solutions across diverse environments.
• Document requirements, design, and test scripts for enhancements; ensure production readiness.
