Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking an Application Delivery Technical Lead to guide software engineers, design architecture, and deliver enterprise-grade solutions. You will work with architects, developers, and business users to ensure projects align with IT standards and business processes.

The role emphasizes a 50/50 split between design/mentorship and hands-on coding, delivering stable, integrated software while mentoring others and shaping technical direction across initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 5 years of experience in software development.
• 3 years of experience in database technologies.
• 5 years of experience on projects involving SDLC implementations.
• 3 years of experience in systems analysis and high level design.
• Experience in RPG, Java, SQL, Angular and APIs design/implementation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides consultation on business requirements and technical designs for software solutions.
• Reviews development of highly complex, enterprise level software.
• Balance 50/50 design/mentorship and hands-on delivery of code.
• Develops prototypes and ensures adherence to architecture standards.
• Guides design and coding of component-based applications across environments.
• Mentors team members and contributes to ongoing technical direction.
