Job summary

Valley Health System seeks a physician assistant or nurse practitioner to contribute clinical expertise in a multidisciplinary Thyroid Center. You will perform histories, exams, orders, and care coordination in collaboration with supervising physicians.

Requires NJ license and NCCPA/ANCC certification, with 1–2 years of clinical practice; BCLS. Opportunity includes involvement in quality initiatives and tumor board participation.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program or RN with NP masters.
• Current NCCPA or ANCC/AANP certification; RFNA if OR assistance.
• Hold a valid NJ license.
• Obtain NJ CDS and federal DEA on employment if not already.
• Evidence of excellent interpersonal and communication skills; problem solving.
• Minimum 1–2 years of clinical practice.
• BCLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Conduct history and physical exams for new, follow-up, and urgent visits.
• Order/interpret labs and imaging; diagnose and treat conditions.
• Prescribe medications and education for patients and families.

Position Summary

In a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment, contributes professional and clinical expertise to assigned patient populations to ensure the delivery of high quality care. Scope of practice will encompass:

• Expert clinical practice
• Expert guidance and coaching of patients and families and other healthcare providers
• Enhance quality and safety initiatives and outcomes
• Leadership (clinical, professional, and systems)

In collaboration with the supervising or collaborating physician, the APP will be expected to:

• Conduct and assess history and physical examinations including new visit, follow up and urgent visits.
• Assist in hospital rounds and patient discharges including a thorough medication reconciliation and follow-up plan.
• Be proficient in performing Pre-Op and Post-Op visits
• Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic imaging studies.
• Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions
• Prescribe medications and treatment plans
• Educate patients and families
• Management of thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal disorders
• Assist in the build of a highly regarded Thyroid Center
• Participates in or leads quality assessment, performance improvement activities, and programmatic growth opportunities
• Attend Tumor Board meetings regularly
• Management of patient database
• Serve on call and/or weekend rotation as required

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program as determined by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation or holds a current Registered Professional Nurse and Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program/Masters in Nursing
• Current Certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or for Advanced Practice Nurses a current Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and Registered Nurse First Assist (RFNA)certification if assisting in the Operating Room.
• Hold a valid, current New Jersey license.
• Obtain a New Jersey CDS and federal DEA certificate upon employment if not already covered.
• Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and creative problem solving.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical practice experience
• Participation in pertinent professional and/or specialty organizations preferred.
• BCLS certification

Salary

• Minimum new grad base salary $144,500 K. Salary commensurate with years of experience as an NP/PA.
• Ability to earn up to 5% quality incentive
