Job summary

MISTRAS is seeking an API Inspector to perform inspections on pressure vessels, piping, and above-ground storage tanks to certify compliance and recommend repairs in accordance with API standards. The role covers field inspections, reporting, and ensuring safety and regulatory requirements are met.

Qualifications include API certification (510/570/653) with at least one year of related experience, a high school diploma, and proficiency in MS Word/Excel.

Qualifications

• API certification (510, 570, and/or 653) with at least one year of related experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or college credits preferred.
• Proficient with MS Word and Excel and able to write detailed inspection reports.
• Able to lift and carry 35 pounds and work in refinery environments.
• Capable of climbing, working at heights, and entering confined spaces.
• Must be able to move through refinery/plant areas and access elevated platforms.
• Good communication and observation skills; adequate vision and hearing; manual dexterity.

Responsibilities

• Perform internal and external inspections on equipment at scheduled intervals to maintain mechanical integrity.
• Conduct visual inspections of completed work and recommend and approve repairs.
• Assist in scheduling inspection activities and ensure safety procedures are followed.
• Complete required forms and paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
• Deliver inspection reports to clients and maintain documentation.
• Work outdoors in plant environments with exposure to high noise levels; wear safety gear.
• May travel out of town periodically as required.
