Ohio University in Athens, OH is seeking an APEX Procurement Specialist (part-time) to deliver counseling on obtaining government contracts across Ohio. The role involves client assessments, program registrations, proposals, audits prep and coordinating with the APEX network to drive program growth.
Responsibilities include maintaining office operations, building relationships with stakeholders, and presenting training sessions to promote APEX services. Travel locally within Ohio is required.
Position may be located in Columbus, Athens, Dayton/Cincinnati, or Cleveland depending upon the applicant selected.
The APEX Procurement Consultant will deliver quality, cost‑effective and expeditious counseling to OU APEX clients related to obtaining government contracts in specified counties in each service area.
Qualified applicants must demonstrate the ability to provide general counseling on business development; ability to create professional relationships with government program managers, contracting officers and prime contractors; working knowledge of best business practices on performing government contracts; pragmatic knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations as well as State of Ohio and local procurement regulations and practices; and must have in‑depth knowledge of the federal government manufacturing requirements.
Duties include client counseling on government procurement related topics; providing in‑depth counseling; assessing a client’s requirements and capabilities; providing in‑depth counseling to include program suitability, registrations, certifications, research, marketing, proposal preparation, interpretation of policies, preparing for audits, contract performance issues and client referrals to appropriate resources; effectively operating the assigned APEX office; working closely with the APEX Director and/or network colleagues to facilitate the smooth operation of the program; maintaining documentation of client counseling and training events; retaining appropriate files while preserving a functioning office space; fostering the APEX program growth through building relationships externally with partnering organizations and key stakeholders; and promoting the APEX program through presentations and training events.
Access to reliable internet to support remote work when needed. Ability to travel is required; understanding of and be able to travel, most often locally or within the state of Ohio; may occasionally be asked to travel out of state to staff college events or national conferences.
