Department Summary: The Rural Justice Pathway Program Coordinator will coordinate transportation and assign high schools to Fellows; coordinate with Admissions about recruiting HS students; ensure that Fellows take their professional development in a timely fashion (Internships; Pre-Law Mentorship Program; Law Clinics: Rural Justice Lab; and LSAT Preparation and Law School Application Support). They will assign mentors and internships with feedback from the Co-directors, as needed. They will work closely on program evaluation and ensure that reports are produced in a timely fashion. They will keep track of the overall workplan and call meetings monthly in the first year and semesterly thereafter.
Position Profile: Designs, conducts, markets, and supports community educational programs. Researches community educational needs and interests and develops educational programs and material in line with community needs. Organises educational workshops for University and local communities.
Level Summary: Performs professional-level work that involves basic, operational problem-solving. Independently resolves day-to-day issues and executes clearly defined tasks. Provides data analysis and informational insights to support decision-making.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None; may assist with training student employees.
Fiscal Responsibilities: No budgetary responsibility. May be responsible for validating transactions.
Problem Solving: Solves routine problems with defined processes and guidance.
Independence of Action: Works under close supervision.
Communication and Collaboration: Collaborates with peers and follows guidance from supervisor.
This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.
This position is primarily performed in a professional office environment and requires regular use of standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, and other electronic communication tools. The incumbent is expected to work a consistent schedule during the University’s standard business hours, with occasional evening or weekend work to support program activities, recruitment events, professional development programming, or other operational needs.
The position requires the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, school personnel, community partners, and legal professionals. Frequent interaction occurs through in-person meetings, virtual platforms, email, and telephone.
Periodic travel is required to high schools, internship sites, partner organizations, and other locations throughout the region to support recruitment, program coordination, and relationship-building activities. A valid driver’s license or the ability to secure reliable transportation may be required, consistent with university policy.
