Job summary

Preferred Apartment Communities is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform repairs to appliances, plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, gates, pools, and facilities. The role involves responding to emergencies, preparing vacant units, and maintaining inventory with strong vendor communication.

The position supports residents through professional interaction, handles service requests, and participates in events.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years maintenance experience with strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities
• Refrigeration certification (Type II or Universal) required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire
• Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation and a clean driving record
• Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs, move 300-lb items on wheels, climb 40‑ft ladders, and use hand tools and test equipment
• Ability to move heavy equipment (often 100–300+ lbs) including up stairs
• Comfort working at heights and in varied conditions while performing repairs and maintenance

Responsibilities

• Complete maintenance requests including repairs to appliances, plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, gates, pools, and facilities
• Respond to emergency calls during evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Prepare vacant units by completing tasks to make apartments rent-ready
• Maintain facilities and inventory by keeping shops organized and stock
• Provide resident support through professional communication and event assistance
• Handle administrative tasks such as logging service requests and monitoring vendor performance
