Job summary

The HT Group is seeking an AP/AR Specialist for a client in Orange, TX. This contract-to-hire role offers a pay rate of $20–$25 per hour, with a Monday–Friday schedule from 7:30AM-4:30PM.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on accounts payable and receivable experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage daily accounting transactions accurately and efficiently. This position provides an opportunity to grow with the Controller and Senior Accountant support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; accounting education is a plus but not required.
• Previous experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, or general accounting required.
• Working knowledge of basic accounting principles, invoice processing, and payment posting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using accounting software or ERP systems.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.
• Experience in industrial distribution, manufacturing, wholesale, or inventory-based operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review, code, and process vendor invoices, matching purchase orders with receiving documentation.
• Process customer payments, including checks and credit cards, and accurately apply payments to customer accounts.
• Research and resolve invoice discrepancies, payment issues, credits, and account balances.
• Maintain accurate vendor and customer records, including account setups, credit applications, and required documentation.
• Assist with AP/AR reconciliations, aging reports, collections support, and month-end accounting activities.
• Communicate with vendors, customers, and internal departments to resolve billing and payment inquiries.
• Maintain organized accounting records and ensure compliance with established procedures.
• Provide general accounting and administrative support to the Controller and Senior Accountant as needed.
