Job Description

We are looking for a strong leader to join our SummerFest Supervisory staff. The ideal candidate will be comfortable providing leadership to both staff and children. The Assistant Supervisor should be extremely organized and have great time management skills. This individual will report to the SF Supervisor and Childcare Supervisor and will work with the SummerFest Leadership team to plan and run a smooth summer program.

This will be a Seasonal, non-benefited position with a commitment for a minimum of 6 weeks (July 6 – August 14), with additional hours during the school year for planning (approximately 40 hours of planning time expected). The weekly hours will vary based on the needs of the program. A typical week will be 20–25 hours. Program hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Ability to work morning and afternoon shifts will be required.

Performance Responsibilities
School Year
  • Required to meet with Summerfest Supervisor, Childcare Supervisor and Leaders in individual groups to conceptualize activities for upcoming summer & discuss supplies needed and inspire staff.
  • Monitors Google Docs weekly for any required input for planning purposes.
  • Perform other related duties as required or as directed.
Summer Months
  • Assumes duties of the Supervisor when they are not present.
  • Strong presence in the classrooms and outdoor play spaces is required.
  • Fill in for absent staff when required.
  • Assist in managing staff to make sure the agreed upon procedures for running of SF are followed.
  • Assist staff when needed with issues with the children. Implement behavioral management plans when needed in the absence of the Supervisor.
  • Assist in mentoring the staff.
  • Assists in collecting data to be used to evaluate SF staff.
  • Uses Google Docs and other forms of communication to ensure all parties are informed.
  • Assists in monitoring children with food allergies for daily activities and field trips.
  • Assume nursing responsibilities when no nurse or Supervisor is on duty.
  • Communicate with parents when needed.
  • Communicate with the Supervisor daily, sharing all pertinent information.
  • Work with Front Desk Staff to make sure front area information is accurate and current.
  • Assist with the set up and breakdown of SF.
  • Perform other related duties as required or as directed.
Physical and Environmental Standards
  • Fast-paced environment.
  • Regular interruptions to assist customers and staff.
  • Ability to lift and carry files, documents, equipment, etc.
  • Some travel by personal automobile to stores, CommEd Office etc.
Qualifications
  • BS in Elementary Education preferred.
  • Experience working a Summer program or camp required.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and Google Docs.
  • Proficiency with Windows operating system.
  • Strong work ethic, self-starter, motivated, positive attitude with the ability to handle multiple tasks and set priorities a must.
