Job summary

CCBC seeks adjunct faculty to teach Anthropology and Sociology at Catonsville, Owings Mills, Essex, Dundalk, or off-site locations. Adjunct level 1 pays $1,085 per credit hour, with selection based on program needs and applicant proficiency.

A Master’s degree is required and teaching experience is preferred. Responsibilities include preparing and delivering instruction, following course outlines, assessing student work, and maintaining records.

Teach day and/or evening courses in Anthropology and/or Sociology,such as Introduction to Cultural Anthropology, Introduction toSociology, The Sociology of Race, Ethnicity, and Culture, andSocial Problems. Adjunct faculty are selected based on the needs ofthe program, applicant proficiency, course availability, andstudent enrollment.

Location: Catonsville, Owings Mills, Essex, or Dundalk campus oroff‑site location

Adjunct level 1 – $1,085 per credit hour.
Minimum Requirements

A minimum of a Master’s degree in Anthropology or Sociology or related field. Prior teaching experience preferred.

Class Specific Essential Duties

Adjunct faculty are expected to prepare and deliver course instruction, follow common course outlines and policies, utilize the CCBC learning management system, grade, critique and evaluate student work, provide timely feedback to students, keep and submit accurate classroom records, communicate with the discipline coordinator, and attend required training sessions, professional development and departmental meetings.

  • Tax-sheltered annuities – 403(b). Payroll salary reduction authorization is needed. The form is available on SharePointForms/Human Resources Forms. The 403(b) supplemental retirement plan is available to all CCBC employees (Adjunct Faculty, Part Time Associates and Full Time employees).
  • Roth 403(b) is a savings feature that is available when you open a 403(b) account. The Roth 403(b) savings feature allows employees to contribute after-tax dollars and then withdraw tax-free dollars from their account upon retirement. The Roth403(b) savings feature is only offered by the following vendors: TIAA-CREF and VOYA Financial Advisors, Inc. Adjunct Faculty, Part Time Associates and Full Time employees are eligible to save for retirement using the Roth 403(b) savings feature. Employees may contribute traditional pre‑tax 403(b) dollars and Roth 403(b) post‑tax dollars simultaneously. The savings limits are combined for the Traditional 403(b) and the Roth 403(b) contributions.
  • Deferred Compensation Plan — 457(b) offered through VOYAFinancial Advisors, Inc. The 457(b) salary reduction authorization form is needed. The form is available on SharePoint Forms/HumanResources Forms.
