Responsibilities
  • Provide daily care and handling of laboratory animals, mainly rodents
  • Identify signs of illness in animals and report accordingly
  • Follow all SOPs and Quality Assurance Standards
  • Work across multiple buildings, with scheduling flexibility
  • Operate independently and as part of a team
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Support training of peers
  • Perform physical activities such as climbing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and handling equipment weighing up to 1,000 lbs
  • Work at heights up to 6-7 feet and perform repetitive motions
  • Work in environments with animals, dander, and bedding materials
  • Demonstrate ability to perform job-specific tasks upon request
  • Provide proof of relevant degrees, licenses, and certifications
  • Meet criteria as critical staff under University policies
  • Obtain annual influenza vaccination or exemption proof
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma with up to 1 year of animal care experience or equivalent
  • Certification as an Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician within 4 months of eligibility
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree
  • Knowledge of animal care techniques, research, and medical asepsis
  • Experience with rodents or similar animals
  • Hands-on animal care experience from various settings
Work Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours/week, day shift, M-F, with some weekends and holidays.

Work Mode

Hybrid or remote work options are at the discretion of the hiring department, subject to review and change.
