Job summary

Daviess County Fiscal Court is seeking a dedicated Animal Shelter Assistant to support daily cleaning and routine shelter operations under supervision. You will help maintain cleanliness, feed and care for animals, and assist in safe handling of new arrivals and adopters.

Responsibilities include assisting staff with logistics, notifying supply needs, and ensuring proper quarantine procedures when required. This role requires attention to safety and compassion for animals in a community shelter.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience.
• Valid Kentucky Driver's License.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Experience with animal shelter operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Clean the Animal Shelter daily including cages, pans and sanitation.
• Feed and water animals daily.
• Retrieve animals for staff, volunteers or adopters.
• Handle incoming/outgoing animals; observe quarantine when needed.
• Notify front desk of supply needs.
• Socialize/walk animals when volunteers cannot.
