Job summary

Daviess County Fiscal Court in Kentucky is seeking a dedicated Animal Shelter Custodian responsible for daily cleaning of the Animal Shelter, feeding and watering animals, handling kennels, and assisting staff with daily tasks.

You will work under the Manager and ensure sanitation, manage intake of animals, and support volunteers. A high school diploma or GED is required, and a valid Kentucky driver’s license is preferred for routine duties.

Qualifications

• Language Skills: ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, write simple correspondence and present information to others.
• Mathematical Skills: basic arithmetic including rate, ratio and percent.
• Reasoning Ability: apply common sense to carry out instructions and solve problems.
• Computer Skills: knowledge of accounting software and payroll systems.

Responsibilities

• Daily cleaning of the Animal Shelter, including cages, litter, pans and sanitation of equipment.
• Feed and water animals daily.
• Retrieve animals for staff, volunteers or adopters.
• Accept animals brought in by citizens.
• Handle incoming/outgoing animals and quarantine when needed.
• Notify front desk of supply needs.
• Socialize/walk animals as needed by volunteers.
