Job summary

Altasciences in the United States is seeking an Animal Research Tech to perform procedures, restrain animals, collect specimens, and ensure GLP-compliant data collection across multiple species.

You will support study directors, maintain records, monitor animal health and facility conditions, and help with SOPs while upholding safety and quality controls. Strong attention to detail and good communication are essential; ALAT certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; BA/BS in a scientific discipline preferred.
• Experience with animals in research or regulated environments preferred.
• ALAT certification preferred.
• Intermediate computer experience including Microsoft Office suite, Project, Info Path and Access.
• English proficiency to read and interpret industry documents and write routine reports.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Follow SOPs and protocols to perform procedures on study and stock animals (e.g., observations, blood draws, dosing, euthanasia).
• Record, enter and review raw data, study and facility.
• Set up for procedures and maintain ancillaries on study animals.
• Operate laboratory equipment (e.g., glucometer, Harvard pump, digital thermometer).
• Monitor and report changes in animal health or housing conditions to appropriate personnel.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
• Review and provide input on SOPs related to animals and procedures.
• Perform husbandry duties.
