Job summary

Charles River Laboratories is seeking a Research Technician I to collect and record data with minimal supervision, handling animals and administering test substances. The role involves in-life procedures, observations, data entry, and adherence to GLPs and SOPs.

This is a full-time position with a Monday–Friday schedule (7:30am–4:00pm). The candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, with 6 months of related experience preferred; ALAT is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; B.S. preferred in animal or life science or related field.
• Experience in animal research or husbandry is preferred (6 months minimum).
• ALAT certification is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-life technical procedures such as clipping, handling, dosing, and body weight measurements.
• Administer test substances by basic methods (e.g., oral gavage).
• Input, print and edit data entries including body weights, food consumption, and observations.
• Observe animals for general health and well-being and report findings.
• Maintain clean work areas and handle animals safely following GLPs and SOPs.
