Altasciences in the United States is seeking an Animal Care Technician I to coordinate, move, and maintain facility equipment and supplies. The role includes basic husbandry for animals, sanitation, and monthly environmental tasks to ensure welfare of animals such as mice, rats, and other species.

The position requires safety/compliance with SOPs and GLP, and may involve weekend/evening rotations. A HS diploma or GED is required, with a BS/BA preferred, and ALAT certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; BS/BA in a scientific discipline preferred.
• ALAT certification preferred.
• Ability to read safety and study-related documents and write routine reports.

Responsibilities

• Complete training focusing on core skills for the role.
• Comply with SOPs, GLP, and regulatory requirements (ALCOA+, USDA, AAALAC).
• Handle and restrain animals professionally and empathetically.
• Perform animal husbandry and routine facility tasks.
• Operate cage washers, autoclave, and related equipment.
• Observe animal room environments and report anomalies.
• Maintain data quality and support cross-department tasks.
• Participate in weekend/evening rotations as needed.
